You don't want to miss this. It's doggone historical! Dogs (and their people) will be allowed in the San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG) for only the 7th time ever during the "Seventh Annual 5K Paw Walk in the Garden".
Once each year Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) and the San Diego Botanic Garden join paws to raise funds that support people, plants, and animals. Both organizations will be benefiting from this event.
Participants will follow a 5K walk through the 37-acre garden with their dog(s) in tow. The route winds through spectacular garden areas including California Native Plants, Australia, the Canary Islands, Hawaii, bamboo, tropical fruit, and palm canyon. Due to the construction at the Hamilton Children’s Garden, we will be starting this event at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum (across Ecke Ranch Road from Hamilton Children’s Garden).
There will be pet products, food (for people), treats (for dogs), lots of great information for dog lovers, and (of course) dogs and puppies!”
Walkers can cover the full 5 kilometer / 3.1 mile course, but that's optional. It's not competitive. You don't even need a dog or other animal to participate. You can go for speed and span...or enjoy the scenery and serenity of the gardens.
There are only a few rules. Here are the main ones:
