The Flower Fields

Mar 1 - May 14, 2017

For more than sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May - literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.

Julian Woman's Club Wildflower Show

May 10 - May 13, 2017

The Julian Wildflower Show has been an historical event for over 90 years. Because of Julian’s mountain valley location, bordering a national forest and close to the Anza-Borrego State Park, we have 855 species of plants within 25 miles of town, many of which were used for health and healing by Native Americans. The Show is meant to educate club members, local residents, out-of-town visitors and children about the botanical wealth of Julian and its vicinity.

Crafts and Drafts

Apr 23, 2017

At the first installment of its Crafts and Drafts block party, Bay City Brewing Co. will bring together the best of Ocean Beach and Point Loma for a big celebration! For one afternoon, we will transform the indoor and outdoor space into a wonderland of local artisans showcasing handmade products. Proceeds from the event will benefit two business-improvement organizations surrounding the brewery – Point Loma Association and Ocean Beach MainStreet Association.

On its outdoor veranda, guests can find more than ten local craftsmen and women sharing a variety of artistic creations. As attendees sip and shop, children are encouraged to create art of their own on a communal blank canvas. Two locally based musicians Courtney Preis and Fish and The Seaweeds will keep the block party sountrack going until nearly sundown.
