The Flower Fields

For more than sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May - literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.

SAFETY NOTE: We encourage runners to wear reflective clothing and bring a headlamp.

PARKING: We recommend parking in the public lot on the corner of Shelter Island Dr. and Anchorage Ln. Meters are free after 6pm. From there, cross Shelter Island Dr. and follow the waterfront path to Eppig Brewing.

Understanding Surfaces, an Art Exhibition

The San Diego Watercolor Society presents “Understanding Surfaces,” an art exhibition juried by award-winning artist Nancy Oleska. The exhibit runs 2/24/2019 through 3/30/2019 at our Art Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, March 1, 2019 from 5-8 pm with 95-100 original ready-to-hang paintings for sale, plus wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. The Gallery is open Weds-Sat, 10 am – 4 pm, Sun 12-4 pm, and is free to the public. Visit www.sdws.org for more information and to view our Online Gallery.
