Tucked away on a 14-acre private peninsula on Mission Bay, Café Bahia is the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant of the Bahia Hotel, a waterfront resort in San Diego. Led by Executive Chef Brett Wegrzyn, this welcoming dining destination caters to a wide variety of tastes through a blend of American and international cuisine.
Café Bahia’s contemporary dining room is dotted with dark wood tables and scenic paintings of dreamy landscapes. To the west, a line of windows peers out to the café’s patio, a space seemingly pulled from a classic Italian movie. A three-tier grand fountain serves as the al fresco centerpiece and offers the soft sounds of babbling water, while Old World chairs paired with granite-topped tables encircle the fountain. Overhead, large wooden beams create a defined space.
Café Bahia starts each day off with its wide-ranging Sunrise Breakfast Buffet, available until 11:30 a.m. and featuring favorites like made-to-order Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, a build-your-own yogurt parfait station, crispy bacon and pork sausage, breakfast potatoes, seasonal fruits and more. Beyond the buffet, morning options run the gamut from sweet indulgences like Cream Cheese Stuffed Cinnamon French Toast to savory satisfiers like Eggs Florentine and the signature Bahia Breakfast Burrito.
Midday, Café Bahia rolls out a diverse and casual lunch menu that offers a little something for everyone, from the across-the-border flavors of Apple Cider Braised Pork Tacos to Pasta Bolognese and the classic Bahia Burger, a guest favorite enhanced with fried onions, Vermont cheddar cheese and garlic aioli. Additional paninis, sandwiches, salads and more round out this afternoon meal.
From the first course through dessert, Café Bahia’s thoughtful dinner menu shines. Appetizers like the creative and multicultural Asian Wonton Nachos introduce a Mexican staple to hoisin sauce and braised short ribs, while crowd-pleasers like Warm Crab and Artichoke Dip and Steamed Littleneck Clams begin the evening on a high note. Fresh salads, like the creative Asian Spiced Seared Ahi Salad, can stand alone or prelude signature courses like Braised Lamb Shank over creamy polenta with roasted root vegetables, Pan Seared Scallops alongside lemon spinach risotto and Chef Wegrzyn's Fresh Catch of the Day.
Throughout the week, Café Bahia offers special buffet dinners, which keep palates guessing with themed evenings. Prior to or after dining, guests are welcome at The Bahia Hotel’s Tangier Bar, a Moroccan hideaway mere steps from the café. Visitors may also opt for a stroll along the nearby shoreline, where they can enjoy access to serene bay views.
