For more than sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May - literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.

JFG's Building Resilience pop up museum stems from the Community 1,000 Cranes project that invited everyone to create an origami crane in hopes to reach a total of 1,000 cranes together to promote recovery, solidarity, and resilience during the initial stay at home orders that began in March, 2020. This pop up museum is designed to activate a public space outside of Balboa Park by bringing JFG demonstrations and exhibits as well as locally partnered programming in an accessible manner to promote cultural exchange.

Cutwater Spirits has opened registration for its first annual Fridge Run to benefit the San Diego Food Bank, which takes place virtually on Saturday, January 23rd, and Sunday, January 24th. Actor Kevin McHale and comedian Sarah Colonna are joining Cutwater for the unprecedented race-from-home challenge by sharing footage of their “race day training routines” (to and from the fridge) on Instagram, all for a good cause. Cutwater Spirits is donating 100% of proceeds from Fridge Run race kits sold to The San Diego Food Bank. Mary Ellen Mark (1940–2015) captured a captivating series a large-format Polaroid camera of twins and multiples at the annual Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio over the summers of 2001 and 2002. The resulting series of extraordinary portraits shows, in astounding detail and clarity, the fascinating physical similarity of identical twins. Just as engaging are the subtle differences between each pair, confirming each twin’s individuality. Mark later interviewed many of her subjects over the phone. Amid a range of anecdotes and confessed frustrations, the intense bond shared between these special siblings is further illuminated in their personal statements.
