In the mid 1980s while touring Europe, Craig MacDonald, owner and founder of Hooleys, made his first visit to Ireland. So taken was he by the "Pub Culture" of the Emerald Isle he decided then and there that he would one day import the warmth and charm of an old Irish Pub to his hometown in San Diego, California. with the help of two great friends( now partners), Craig realized his dream and on Saint Patrick's Day 1999 the doors to Hooleys Irish Pub & Grill first opened in Rancho San Diego.
As many Irish natives will attest, Hooley's Irish Pub & Grill captures the true magic of an authentic Irish Pub. From the polished brass to the old church pews supporting the bar, all the interior was shipped from Ireland to Rancho San Diego. Ten years later, Hooleys in La Mesa was established, bringing a piece of Old Ireland to the heart of Grossmont Center. Much of the decor and character also comes from the old country, which defines Hooleys as one of the premiere Irish Pubs in San Diego County.
Our menu, of which we are proud, offers you a taste of homemade traditional Irish fayre, bringing the expiereince of Irish cuisine and hospitality to San Diego.
