This vibrant, world-premiere musical charts the incomparable life of Donna Summer, the undisputed Queen of Disco, from her modest Boston childhood to international stardom. Told through the dramatic lens of her final concert, SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical presents the complexities and conflicts the iconic songwriter and singer faced in her meteoric rise – and descent. Featuring three actresses in the title role and a score with more than 20 of Summer’s classic hits including “Love to Love You, Baby,” “Bad Girls” and “Hot Stuff,” this electric experience is a moving tribute to the voice of a generation.

This year on Leap Day, The Old Globe’s Department of Arts Engagement is excited to host a dance-performance competition and celebration featuring selected local dance performance groups. Leap into action and submit to have your company featured on our plaza on February 29, 2020!

On February 29, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., The Old Globe’s Department of Arts Engagement will host a dance-off on the Globe plaza! Up to 10 local dance groups will be selected and featured. Local esteemed dance judges will select the very best performances for a cash prize ($2000 for first place, $1000 for second place, and $500 for third place), while all dancers will receive small prizes for participating.
