Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play

Based on the 1947 Lux Radio Hour Broadcast

Returning for the second year in a row, this heartwarming holiday classic is retold in the tradition of a live 1940’s era radio broadcast. When a department store Santa claims he’s the real Kris Kringle, his case gets taken all the way to the Supreme Court. Watch the miracle unfold when the belief of a little girl makes all the difference in this iconic story. Staged with live Foley effects and a score of favorite holiday tunes, Miracle on 34th Street is sure to melt even the most cynical of hearts.

This year on Leap Day, The Old Globe’s Department of Arts Engagement is excited to host a dance-performance competition and celebration featuring selected local dance performance groups. Leap into action and submit to have your company featured on our plaza on February 29, 2020!

On February 29, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., The Old Globe’s Department of Arts Engagement will host a dance-off on the Globe plaza! Up to 10 local dance groups will be selected and featured. Local esteemed dance judges will select the very best performances for a cash prize ($2000 for first place, $1000 for second place, and $500 for third place), while all dancers will receive small prizes for participating.

The Old Globe strives to engage this population as we transform our non-performance space into a participatory art venue, utilizing the Globe’s unique physical location as an opportunity for connectivity and creative placemaking. AXIS is an effort to broaden our concept of audience, extending beyond regular ticket-holders and encompassing diverse, multigenerational constituencies from communities across San Diego County.
