Ghosts & Gravestones Frightseeing Tour

Dying to take a ride on the dark side? Join us for a spirited & entertaining tour built on stories of history, mystery and legends of San Diego’s past! Travel back in time with us and learn about the spirits of notorious wild characters like gunslingers, gamblers, and ladies of the night who lived and died in San Diego. You’ll start the tour with a ride in our special all-black “doom buggies”, spirited away to Pioneer Park in Mission Hills where things are not always what they seem. The tour continues to El Campo Cemetery in Old Town, one of the oldest burial grounds in San Diego, where you’ll be chilled to the bone with tales from beyond the grave. Lastly, if your ticket type includes the Whaley House Museum, you’ll visit one of the country’s most haunted houses and the site of many reported paranormal experiences.

La Vista Memorial Park and Mortuary Memorial Day Celebration

May 27, 2019

La Vista Memorial Park and Mortuary, one of the San Diego's oldest and most historic cemeteries, will host its annual Memorial Day ceremonies Monday, May 27th, at its picturesque hilltop setting located at 3191 Orange St., in National City.

Over the years, La Vista’s Memorial Day activities have evolved into a community wide event supported enthusiastically by National City public officials and draws visitors from all over San Diego County.

"To us, Memorial Day is a chance for the entire community to come together, to pause and remember the lives given to protect us when we most needed it, and also to celebrate the sense of community that ensures here because of that sacrifice," said Luisa McCarthy, Event Organizer. As a symbol of that community spirit, several public officials will roll up their sleeves to serve the lunch in what has become an important component of La Vista’s Memorial Day tradition.
