Bruxo Mezcal Happy Hour Takeover at Galaxy Taco

Aug 18, 2017

On Friday, August 18, Galaxy Taco will be welcoming Bruxo Mezcal for a special mezcal happy hour takeover including $10 flights, specialty cocktails and complimentary appetizers at their La Jolla Shores eatery.

Bruxo, pronounced "Broo-hoh", follows a methodical process to produce their acclaimed mezcal. Seeped in traditional origins, they harvest their maguey at its peak, cook the hearts in an earth oven and follow a customary fermentation process including distilling their mezcal twice in clay and copper pots. Each bottle is then labeled, sealed and packaged by the families and communities at the Palenque.

Now Bruxo is bringing their celebrated mezcal to SoCal for this special event. Flights will include their espadin, pechuga, barril and ensamble blends. Happy Hour is 5pm-9pm. Make your reservations today - space is limited.

The Navajo Code Talkers

Jul 20 - ongoing

Growing up, young Navajo were told not to speak their language. But as young Marines during World War II, men like Samuel Tsosie Sr. found their words were their mightiest weapons.

The Marine Corps recruited Navajo to Camp Elliott (now part of MCAS-Miramar) to develop a code using the Navajo language for combat communications. Approximately 400 Navajo recruited by the Marines learned the code.  The Navajo were deployed to the Pacific to use their native language to change the course of critical battles including Iwo Jima.

The Navajo code is the only spoken military code that was never deciphered.  The code remained classified until 1968.

The Mike Tsosie Family has generously loaned for display Navajo Code Talker Samuel Tsosie Sr.’s artifacts from his time on the front lines in the Pacific during World War II.
