Sexy Lounges Shake it Up

Places to See and Be Seen

San Diego’s low-lit lounges are where you’ll find gorgeous crowds, sexy beats and cool cocktails. Less frenetic than traditional clubs, these venues offer the opportunity for conversation while still satisfying the need to see and be seen.

Downtown & Gaslamp Quarter

Side Bar

Hip-hop beats and house music swirling out the door signal the Side Bar, another Gaslamp Quarter favorite, where hipsters gather for hot music, cool cocktails and a laid-back, retro lounge atmosphere.

Where: 536 Market St, San Diego, CA 92101

Vin de Syrah

Vin de Syrah is part underground urban lounge and part Alice in Wonderland garden party. The wine list is extensive and the selections of whiskey, bourbon and beer are vast, paired with a menu of cheeses and meats. Guests can dance to the music of San Diego's most eclectic DJs or the soothing rhythms of live jazz, or enjoy their beverage in the privacy of a plush booth.

Where: 901 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Oxford Social Club

Inspired by the exclusive social gathering places of bygone eras, Oxford Social Club, located inside Pendry San Diego, welcomes guests with a lively scene, expertly curated music, exceptional service, and an extensive craft cocktail program.

Where: 435 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Noble Experiment

The secret is out: Noble Experiment is San Diego's favorite hidden speakeasy. Located in the back of the popular Neighborhood restaurant in the East Village, this tiny bar is big on character, featuring a wall of golden skulls and animated paintings on the walls. Make sure to text ahead for a reservation, as the intimate space doesn't allow much room for walk-ins.

Where: 777 G St, San Diego, CA 92101

Cat Eye Club

For an entertaining evening, Cat Eye Club is a must visit. The vintage-inspired hideaway in downtown’s East Village serves up whimsical tiki drinks that are as fun to look at as they are to drink. Try the Cradle of Life or the Scorpion Bowl - both are served aflame.

Where: 370 7th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Little Italy

Kettner Exchange

Little Italy's only open-air rooftop lounge offers a unique variety of libations including boutique wines, craft and classic cocktail decanters and self-serve beer taps located right inside private cabanas.

Where: 2001 Kettner Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101

Craft and Commerce/False Idol

A high-design tiki bar featuring classic drinks nodding to old school tiki haunts like Trader Vics and others, curated by rum-meister Martin Cate. Their Coronado Luau Special features aged pot still rum with VSOP Armagnac, Grand Marnier, orgeat, fresh orange and lemon juice, a recipe originally created at the Luau Room at Hotel del Coronado, circa 1940s.

Where: 675 W Beech St, San Diego, CA 92101

Starlight San Diego

Starlite is one of San Diego's hidden gems nestled on an unassuming corner of India St near Sassafras St in Middletown/Mission Hills. They’re all about quality drinks, food, and atmosphere. A relaxed, comfortable atmosphere sets the tone for meeting with friends, craft cocktails and slow food, and late nite dining.

Where: 3175 India St, San Diego, CA 92103

North Park & South Park

Polite Provisions

For those searching for some craft cocktails made by gentlemen in bowties and beards or ladies that know whiskey like the back of their hand, head over to Polite Provisions on Adams Avenue.

Where: 4696 30th St, San Diego, CA 92116

Sycamore Den

A lounge reminiscent of the 70s dens long past, minus the shag carpet. The Sycamore Den aims to be a place where sophisticated, yet humble, drinkers can come and relax in front of the fire with an artisanal cocktail or two.

Where: 3391 Adams Avenue, San Diego, CA 92116

Mission Bay and Beaches

JRDN

JRDN offers another chic alternative to the standard beach bar - the modern space draws a well-dressed crowd nightly. Located at San Diego's beachfront boutique hotel, Tower23, JRDN offers an indoor/outdoor bar perched atop the cliffs above Pacific Beach.

Where: 723 Felspar St, San Diego, CA 92109
