Shores and Tours in Coronado

1-Day Sightseeing Itinerary for "The Crown City"

There's so much to see and do in beautiful Coronado!

If you only have one day to enjoy "Crown City," as Coronado is called, start your day by the shore taking in the views and soaking up the sun's warm rays. That afternoon, take a walking tour and learn about the island's rich past. When night falls, enjoy an evening of culture at Lambs Players theatre.

Morning

Named for the tiny, silvery shells that cover its shoreline, Silver Strand State Beach is an 11-mile stretch of beach and bayfront that connects Coronado to Imperial Beach. Surrounded by endless vistas of the Pacific Ocean and bay, explorers can swim, search for seashells, and bike around the coastline.

Afternoon

The Coronado Museum of History and Art offers fascinating walking tours detailing Coronado’s colorful past. Explore the stately home of sugar baron John D. Spreckels, the Duchess of Windsor Cottage, the home that inspired L. Frank Baum to write the Wizard of Oz books and more.

Evening

Theater enthusiasts should not miss the chance to see a show at Lamb’s Players Theatre. The theatre performs five productions per year at the 350-seat Resident Stage in the historic Spreckels Building in downtown Coronado. Lamb’s annual season runs February through November and includes a mix of premieres, classics, musicals and comedies. December’s schedule is filled with a variety of Christmas productions and holiday heart warmers.
