City Heights Dia de los Muertos

Celebrate the lives of friends and relatives who have passed away at the City Heights Dia de Los Muertos. People of all cultures will come together for community altars, face painting, mask making, and prizes for the best catrina and catrin contest, plus dancing, singing and music.

Encinitas Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Celebrate life with live performances, art-making workshops, a student art exhibit, artist demos, food trucks and more at the Encinitas Dia de los Muertos.

Dia de los Muertos at Rancho Guajome Adobe

When: October 26, 2019
The historic Rancho Guajome Adobe will have offerings to remember the dead and honor ancestors, which may consist of foods, photographs, flowers, candles, toys and other symbolic offerings, created by community members. The event will include performances by Ballet Folklorico, live traditional music, children's activities, and food and craft vendors.

Dia de los Muertos, Oceanside

When: October 27, 2019
Dia de los Muertos, or "Day of the Dead," is an all-day community event with diverse cultural traditions, remembering and honoring deceased loved ones.

24th Annual Día de los Muertos Festival

When: November 1-4, 2019
Each year, guests are invited to create altars to remember and honor their loved ones in a special area outside of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido museum; the event also features live music, traditional Mexican fare, a parade, and more.

Day of the Dead at Bazaar del Mundo

When: November 1-3, 2019
Old Town icons Bazaar del Mundo and Casa Guadalajara team up to celebrate Día de los Muertos with face painting, a life-size Catrina, artisans displaying their Día de los Muertos-themed work and collectables, authentic Muertos Mole Dinner, plus altars and free family friendly activities – including sugar skull decorating, mask making, coloring and more.

Dia de Los Muertos at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park

When: November 1-3, 2019
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is celebrating Dia de los Muertos with several shows hosted in Spanish, plus roving mariachis, Ballet Folklorico dancers and stilt walkers, and specialty foods and beverages.

Old Town Summer Nights

Aug 13 - Sep 27, 2020

Sidewalks and streets of Old Town have become an amazing outdoor dining experience offering guests safe, social distance dining, shopping and siteseeing! Enjoy the outdoor patios of our restaurants and our retail businesses. All of the retail businesses and restaurants are creating a festive atmosphere by decorating the outside of their business with white lights and other festive decorations.

In addition, starting in August through September 27 there will be a street closure on San Diego Avenue from Thursday through Sunday to make room for the restaurants and businesses in that area to move onto the sreets. Visit all of Old Town from Tayor Street to Old Town Avenue. Wear your mask and enjoy the birthplace of California all summer long.



Creative Youth Studio

Creative Youth Studio is a series of professional development opportunities for youth to advance their creative and professional careers, it aims to reach a broad swath of aspiring thespians, including high school theatre-enthusiasts and community members new to our programs. Participants will explore audition preparation, portfolio-building, voice work, dance, and clowning in free weekly one hour classes, Saturdays at 11:00 a. m., live on The Old Globe Arts Engagement’s Facebook page and Instagram (@tog_ae).

Join us for a Living Room Lecture on the archaeology and history of Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. People have lived on or near Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve for at least 10,000 years. What does the archaeological record tell us about how they survived? When the Spanish first came to San Diego, the people there were known as the Kumeyaay. What natural resources did they utilize? Did they have a village there? What happened over historical times to those people?

This holiday is considered to be one of the most important holiday's of the year by many in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
The unity between life and death is celebrated when families come together and offer hospitality to the spirits of their loved ones.

This event is designed to celebrate the history, culture and heritage of the San Diego region and to pay homage to this very important and festive tradition.
Old Town’s diverse and historic legacy makes it the best site in San Diego to foster this celebration.

Old Town itself takes the place of the mercado, a traditional marketplace, providing goods, entertainment,
and regional food
