Four-part miniseries focuses on unique cultural offerings of Balboa Park and the city

San Diego is a city filled with diversity, creativity, discovery and adventure and nowhere is that spirit more evident than in Balboa Park, long known as the region's cultural heart. National Geographic's four-episode miniseries will explore what makes San Diego such a unique destination, showcasing the iconic Balboa Park as well as the larger city to a national and international audience. The four episodes of the series each have a different theme, looking at San Diego and its rich cultural heritage through a different lens.

Big Bay Boom!

The Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show is back, promising another spectacular display over San Diego Bay. Fireworks will be discharged simultaneously from barges placed strategically around the Bay off Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero North, Seaport Village, Embarcadero South Marina Park and Coronado Ferry Landing. The impeccably choreographed display will last approximately 17 minutes.

Come down to the bay and enjoy the biggest fireworks show in San Diego!

One of the top 20 "Must See" seaside festivals in the world according to American Express and USA Today's 10 Best, the U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge and Dimensional Art Exposition will return to San Diego's downtown waterfront for 2019. This will be the eigth year that one of the world's most important sand-sculpting competitions will be held on this built-for-the-occasion beach, with over 300 tons of sand dumped on the pier on San Diego's Big Bay. The 8th annual edition will be open to the public Aug. 31 - Sept. 2. The Port of San Diego is again the presenting sponsor, as the event is held on its beautiful Broadway Pier and Landing. So come and celebrate Labor Day on the Bay with us.
