On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Downtown El Cajon's two signature arts events—Artivál and the beloved Alley Cat Art Walk—come together for the inaugural Alley Cat Art Fest. This free, open-air celebration transforms Downtown El Cajon into a vibrant showcase of art, music, food, and culture while supporting the restoration of existing murals and the creation of future public art throughout the district.
From 10:00am to 6:00pm, Main Street, Magnolia Avenue, Arts Alley, Prescott Promenade, and surrounding areas will come alive with more than 50 local artists, live entertainment, interactive experiences, and food and beverage vendors. Visitors can stroll through an outdoor gallery featuring paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, handcrafted goods, and more while meeting the artists behind the work.
At the heart of the festival is Arts Alley, the historic home of the Alley Cat Art Walk. Lined with colorful murals created by local artists, this iconic corridor serves as an open-air gallery celebrating more than two decades of Downtown El Cajon's commitment to public art, creativity, and cultural placemaking.
