Deeply entrenched into the San Diego lifestyle is a love for healthy living, the great outdoors and finding a balance between work and play. Whether you are interested in learning how to meditate, wanting to de-stress, or hoping to discover the best spots for downward dogs, San Diego has plenty to offer. And with San Diego's gorgeous weather, you can practice your sun salutation in soft sand or on a grassy lawn in the park year-round. 

Here are some places that welcome guests to work out the kinks of long flights or to slow down and breathe deeply.

Waterfront Yoga

The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park

The stunning Rady Shell is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and memorable yoga experience by the water. The Shell, the outdoor home of the San Diego Symphony, hosts yoga classes from Fit Athletic on select Saturdays throughout the year. Participation is free but registration is required.

Hotel del Coronado

Yoga practitioners find their inner Zen on the glittering sands of Coronado Beach with the Hotel del Coronado's Sunrise Yoga, held 10 - 11 a.m., Fridays – Sundays. Guests can practice downward dogs on the sand of one of the nation's top beaches with fresh sea breezes and lapping waves as a soundtrack. 

On the Water Yoga

Aqua Adventures

Aqua Adventures offers paddleboard yoga starting at 10 a.m. every weekend on Mission Bay. Yogis lead guests of all levels through a 90-minute yoga session to enhance mindfulness while challenging muscles on a paddleboard.

Mission Bay Aquatic Center

Moving beyond the classroom, yoga classes are now being held on the water with stand-up paddleboards acting as floating yoga mats. At Mission Bay Aquatic Center, yoga instructors lead SUPCore Yoga, where poses are performed on the board in the calm waters of scenic Mission Bay.

Yoga in Balboa Park

Japanese Friendship Garden

At the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, yoga classes take place in the tranquil garden next to the soothing Koi pond. Classes include Flow Yoga (9 a.m. Mondays), Gentle Yoga (9 a.m. Wednesdays), Vinyasa Yoga (9 a.m. Thursdays), and Vinyasa Restore Yoga (9 a.m. Saturdays).

The OM Experience

Visitors are welcome to The OM Experience, held 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sundays in Balboa Park. It's a joyful Vinyasa-style yoga class for all levels that enjoys nature, live music, and the beautiful outdoors.

Yoga Studios

Ashtanga Yoga Center

Located in Encinitas, Ashtanga Yoga Center is one of the premiere Ashtanga studios in the nation. Led by renowned teacher Tim Miller, the classes are led by a variety of accomplished teachers. With classes appropriate for the beginner or expert, the yoga center is dedicated to the true art of yoga.

Radiance Yoga & Therapeutic Exercise Center

In the charming neighborhood of Mission Hills, Radiance Yoga & Therapeutic Exercise Center is one of San Diego’s first yoga studios and offers a wide array of classes including Therapeutic, Symmetry, Vinyasa, and Iyengar Yoga. Radiance also offers custom and private lessons.

San Diego Yoga Studio

Centrally located in the Bay Park/Clairemont neighborhood, San Diego Yoga Studio is San Diego’s largest Iyengar Yoga studio. Taught by accomplished professionals, classes are available for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Yoga Box

Yoga Box offers a radically inclusive environment that challenges and transforms any level of yoga practice, blending the power of Vinyasa, Yoga Sculpting, and Recovery Restorative Yoga. Yoga Box has locations in North Park, Pacific Beach, Hillcrest, Ocean Beach, and the College (SDSU) area.

Yoga Del Mar

Yoga Del Mar offers adult classes in various levels and styles of alignment-based yoga for individuals desiring greater overall health and wellbeing. In addition, Yoga Del Mar offers the MELT Method, a revolutionary approach to pain-free longevity that helps you stay healthy, youthful, and active for life.

The Boxing Club

The Boxing Club offers Vinyasa Flow, Yoga Sculpt, and Yoga Restore classes designed for athletes and individuals of all level who train often, helping them gain flexibility while still keeping their strength and power. The Boxing Club has locations in University Town Center, East Village and Kearney Mesa.

The Spa at Rancho Valencia

One of San Diego's most serene yoga studios is found at the Spa at Rancho Valencia. The open-air gem overlooks an infinity pond and lush garden set in a grove of Eucalyptus trees. A variety of daily classes are available including Yoga Flow, Yoga and Meditation, Vinyasa Flow, Deep Stretch, and Roll with It.
