The USS Midway Museum's "Legacy Week" is the heart and soul of Memorial Day commemoration in San Diego. This year we are offering our most iconic activities onboard and in a virtual format. From a live stream Memorial Day commemoration, to an interactive Remembrance Wall, to our annual blood drive – each element of Midway's Legacy Week commemoration is designed to honor and remember our heroes and celebrate our military heritage.

Remembrance Wall - Virtual Display
When: May 27-21
The USS Midway Museum invites guests to remember those who have paid the ultimate price serving our country by submitting a picture on our Virtual Remembrance Wall. This wall is an opportunity to publicly honor their legacy and thank these courageous individuals for their sacrifice for our freedom. Select photos will be printed and displayed in a temporary exhibit that will be onboard.
Switchfoot Live from the UNN Midway: Virtual Concert
When: May 27
Join us for a concert experience unlike any other. Watch grammy award winning rock band Switchfoot perform live from the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum.
Destination Midway
When: May 27 at 12:30 PM
Join ship historian, Sarl Zingheim, for the next destination midway livestream. You will not want to miss this history relived!
Meet the Aviators and the Planes they Flew may 30
When: May 30
Join us on Sunday to meet incredible former aviators and the aircraft they flew. Come aboard midway to learn about flying a F-14 Tomcat, E-2 Hawkeye, and more from these experts!
Virtual Memorial Day Wreath Ceremony
When: May 31 at 9:00 AM
Join us on Memorial Day for a special wreath ceremony event streamed via Facebook Live. Inspire patriotism and appreciation for those who serve by honoring the fallen. This event will include guest speakers, taps, and tossing of wreaths over the ship. The event is closed to the public however will be streamed live via Midway Museum's Facebook page.
National Moment of Remembrance
When: May 31 at 3:00 PM
Established into law by congress in 2000, the national moment of remembrance is when Americans pause and observe a moment of silence at 3:00 PM on memorial day to honor those who have fallen while serving in the u.S. Military. As noted by the national moment of remembrance act, "congress called on the people of the united states, in a symbolic act of unity, to observe a national moment of remembrance to honor the men and women of the united states who died in the pursuit of freedom and peace." Wherever you are, be sure to take a pause to remember those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice while in uniform. Thank you for participating.
Blood Drive
When: May 31 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Stop by the San Diego Blood Bank trailer on Navy Pier (within the Ace parking lot) to make a donation! Donors will receive one (1) free pass to the USS Midway Museum, while supplies last.
