Kairoa Brewing Company

Kairoa Brewing Co. opened in late January 2019 and brings New Zealand influence to San Diego's University Heights neighborhood. With a rotating list of house and guest beers from 24 taps, Kairoa's head brewer Joe Peach incorporates uniquely aromatic New Zealand hops into many of the brewpub's beers. Kairoa's cuisine fuses the fresh, coastal influences of Southern California with the comforts of traditional Kiwi food. A distinct, urban design carries throughout the main level and open rooftop area, where patrons can enjoy a view overlooking the iconic University Heights sign. The name Kairoa is a combination of two small mountainous towns on the south side of New Zealand where the founders hail from: Kaikoura and Akaroa.
