Four Museums in One Location
The Heritage of the Americas Museum, located on the campus of Cuyamaca College in Rancho San Diego, is a cultural and educational facility featuring the prehistoric and historic art, culture and natural history of the Americas and beyond. The museum is actually four museums at one location, represented by the four wings: Natural History, Archaeology, Anthropology, and Art. The Natural History Wing is the first stop on your journey, where you will find meteorites, gems and minerals, fossils, both animal and plant, etc.
Right around the corner in the Archaeology Wing, you will see the paleo and archaic points made by early man in the Americas, and pre-Columbian treasures from North, Central, and South America.
The third stop is the Anthropology Wing, where you will be afforded glimpses into the daily life of the Cheyenne, Eskimo, Hopi, and many other Native American cultures.
Your final stop is the Art Wing, which includes many excellent examples of Western art, including original oils by such noted artists as Olaf Wieghorst, Marjorie Reed, Gene Locklear and Alfredo Rodriguez.
