San Diego Youth Symphony & Conservatory

Music Education: Accessible & Affordable for All

The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory (SDYS), was founded in 1945 and is the sixth oldest operating youth orchestra in the United States. We have trained thousands of students over the years. This season, more than 900 musicians between the ages of 8 and 25 are enrolled in our Balboa Park ensembles and community programs. SDYS provides rigorous and high quality music training within a fun environment where lifelong friends are made. In addition to its large ensemble programs, its Community Opus Project provides free after-school music instruction at elementary schools in Chula Vista and Southeast San Diego.

Every weekend, from September to early June, our ensembles rehearsals are open to the public in Casa del Prado, Balboa Park.
