The Del Mar Fairgrounds is a world-class, multi-use facility hosting nearly 350 events each year. Our two signature events are known as the kick-off to summer in San Diego:
The San Diego County Fair runs mid-June through Independence Day weekend and is the fourth largest fair in North America. The view from the top of our Ferris Wheel is unsurpassed! With museum-quality exhibits in photography, woodworking, fine art and more, our fair also boasts some of the most outlandish and thrilling rides and more deep-fried-food-on-a-stick than you can imagine.
World-class thoroughbred horse racing takes place mid-July through early September. The Del Mar live meet is known to be the finest horseracing on the west coast, and has served as a celebrity playground since Bing Crosby opened the gates back in 1936.
Aside from the San Diego County Fair and Del Mar Thoroughbred Racing, the Del Mar Fairgrounds features a year-round miniature golf course (Pelly's Miniature Golf), driving range and pro shop (Del Mar Golf Center), off-track wagering (Surfside Race Place) and a full-service equestrian facility (Del Mar Horsepark).
