Althea Salas

Althea Salas is the Vice President of Human Resources with the San Diego Tourism Authority.

A native San Diegan, Salas attended San Diego State University where she obtained a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources Management. Having spent some time in retail and then with Sheraton properties, she began her career in hospitality.

In 2002, Salas received her designation of SPHR, Senior Professional in Human Resources, and later a SHRM-SCP, Senior Certified Practitioner designation. Over the years, she has been involved with the Franklin Covey learning programs and is a certified facilitator for theSeven Habits of Highly Effective Peopleand strives to live the principles daily.

Salas was recognized as a finalist for the San Diego Business Journal’s HR Professional of the Year Awards for 2011 and 2012. She is currently Vice Chair on the Board of the San Diego Workforce Partnership and is President of the San Diego Society for Human Resource Management’s Board of Directors.
