San Diego is home to the world's largest sport fishing fleet and year round fishing seasons. With over 70 large vessels and dozens of 6-pack charters to choose from, it's no wonder more tuna and other Pelagics are caught from San Diego than anywhere else in the world!

Salt Water Fishing

San Diego's ocean waters offer numerous types of inshore and offshore fish allowing any angler, from an expert to a beginner, to fish year-round. Fishing can be done from the shoreline, a pier, a kayak, a private boat or a state-of-the-art large vessel. Boats departing San Diego's bay require only 20-30 minutes to reach some of the most productive fishing grounds in the world.

Freshwater Fishing

San Diego also has some of the world's best freshwater fishing with numerous lakes and reservoirs filled with large trout and even world-record largemouth bass. In fact, some of the all-time biggest largemouth bass were caught in San Diego, including the famous 25.1 pounder affectionately known as "Dottie" featured in National Geographic.

San Diego is known as America's Finest City and one of the main reasons has to be the weather. San Diego averages 76°F (24°C) in the summer and 50°F (10°C) in the winter and because it typically rains very little, San Diego enjoys low humidity and mosquitoes tend to be negligible.
