For more than 50 years, La Mesa Oktoberfest has offered autumnal traditions and Bavarian festivities for locals and visitors of all ages to enjoy! The La Mesa Depot Museum is La Mesa's oldest building in its original form and is the sole surviving San Diego and Cuyamaca railway station in existence. This building and its past are a fascinating look at a bit of small-town railroading from yesteryear and its importance to the community it served. The public is admitted free to the La Mesa Depot Museum for tours. Visitors can inspect the steam locomotive and string of freight cars on the nearby track and pass through the ticket/waiting area and view the telegrapher’s station and a small exhibit area in the baggage room.

Stroll through the La Mesa Village Friday afternoons to find some of San Diego County’s most fresh produce and other local products at the La Mesa Farmers Market.

Try this eastern loop of breweries that takes you through San Diego suburbs like El Cajon, Alpine, Julian, Ramona, La Mesa and Santee. If you want to do the full loop, you'll need the entire day, but you could also break it into just the northern breweries (Ramona and Julian) or just the southern breweries (Santee, Alpine, La Mesa and El Cajon). You might also want to consider booking a brewery tour that will chauffeur you around while you enjoy a few samples at each stop.

Less than 30 minutes by car from downtown San Diego, you’ll find Mt Helix in San Diego’s La Mesa area. It’s a beautiful winding road up to the top, where locals and visitors go for spectacular views all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
