Weekly Hotel Performance – April 4-10, 2021

  • Positive market momentum continued with demand similar to Easter week prior, but at a higher average daily rate.
  • Weekly room night demand held steady at nearly 295,000 room nights sold throughout the county this week.
  • Hotel occupancy once again averaged from mid-70s to low-90s in most regions of the county for both Friday and Saturday nights.
  • County occupancy averaged 66.0% ranking San Diego 6th among top markets and 2nd in the western competitive set, behind Phoenix at 72.7%.
  • Top performing regions remain South/East County at 81.8%, Northeast/Escondido at 78.4% and Mission Bay at 74.2%.
  • The county ADR rose to $140 this week – higher than any week since COVID began – ranking San Diego 6th among top markets and 2nd in the western comp set, behind Phoenix at $142. 
  • San Diego led in ADR among Southern California markets this week with Los Angeles trailing at $138 and Orange County at $137.
  • The coastal regions of La Jolla and Mission Bay had the highest ADRs of $257 and $219, respectively.
