Weekly Hotel Performance – June 6-12, 2021
- San Diego hotel room night demand continues to climb as the summer leisure travel season kicks off. A total of 328,776 room nights were sold throughout the county this last week, an increase of over 20,000 room nights from week prior.
- San Diego’s occupancy and ADR outperformed other western competitive set cities for the third week in a row.
- Monday-Wednesday demand rose significantly from last week with each night gaining roughly 8,000 room nights sold. Thursday gained nearly 5,500 room nights over last week, and Friday/Saturday nights gained roughly 4,500 each.
- Saturday night occupancy was in the mid-90s for all but two regions throughout the county.
- County occupancy averaged 73.2% ranking San Diego 3rd nationally (behind Tampa 77.8% and Miami 75.7%) and 1st in the western competitive set.
- South/East County properties averaged 85.1% followed by Northeast/Escondido at 79.4% and Pt. Loma/Airport properties at 77.4%.
- County ADR rose to $172 ranking San Diego 4th among top markets (behind Miami $230, Oahu Island $220, and New York $186) and 1st in the western comp set.
- Beach regions grew ADR again this week, with La Jolla properties averaging $289, Mission Bay at $263 and Del Mar/Oceanside at $210.
