Itinerary

A trip to Coronado feels like you're leaving behind the mainland for a dose of island living, but it's not your typical beach town. Part resort, part naval base, part luxury homes for the rich, Coronado is many things to many people.

We'll meet at Rotary park on Orange Avenue, the main street in town named after the orange trees planted here in the late 19th century. This main part of town is lined with cafes, shops, and restaurants, almost all locally-owned and operated. We'll work our way down to the public library, the original building donated by John Spreckels.

Then we'll get off the main drag and explore some lesser known areas, full of architecture ranging from Gothic to Modern. After a quick sweet treat we'll take a stroll down to Star Park, where the "Wizard of Oz" house is located and then make our way to Coronado beach, one of the best in the country. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Mexico! We stroll by multi-million dollar homes that line Ocean Boulevard and you hear about the people who once lived there, including the residents of the historic Spreckels Mansion.

After getting a look at the historic Hotel del Coronado, an 135+ year old icon and American treasure, having hosted celebrities, dignitaries, and US presidents, we'll stroll back to where we started, with a brief stop in one of our favorite shops before we say our goodbyes. Your guide will make suggestions on what else to see and do, and gives you tips on where to eat and shop.
