Welcome to San Diego, where sustainability shines.

With its coastal location and renowned biodiversity, sustainability is in San Diego’s DNA. It’s who we are and how we live every day. From its founding, San Diego’s coastal culture, values and vibe are all about clean air, water and living in harmony with nature. San Diego is committed to preserving its natural beauty and offering responsible ways to explore the region for generations to come.

As the authority on the destination, San Diego Tourism Authority (SDTA) is the leader in promoting San Diego as a sustainable destination for both leisure and business travelers, as well as working with other local, state and national level partners to grow its position and reputation as a sustainable destination.

San Diego consistently ranks among the top green cities in the United States, and often at No. 1, recognized for our renewable energy resources, green building practices and commitment to continuous improvement. In February 2025, the City of San Diego achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

When you visit and hold meetings in San Diego, you’re not only traveling sustainably — you’re investing in the region’s success.
