Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience

With its walk-through archway habitat and giant viewing wall, SeaWorld San Diego’s newest aquarium is bound to be a jelly good time for visitors. The exhibit features four separate species of the delicate, tentacled invertebrates. And while you might not actually be able to hug a jellyfish, you can count on a hands-on component to the experience.

Get into the rhythm of irresistible Latin music and cuisine in this festive celebration, featuring a live concert series, dance performances and a family-friendly party atmosphere in SeaWorld’s Zócalo zone. Not only is Sesame Place San Diego the only the only “Sesame Street”-themed park on the West Coast, but its 18 rides include 11 aquatic attractions — and those watery wonders reopen for the season in early spring. Don’t miss the half-million-gallon wave pool as well as the park’s newest aquatic feature, the Count’s Splash Castle.

As LEGOLAND® California gets ready to celebrate its 27th birthday (aka “brickday”), the park also marks the first anniversary of one of its newest themed areas, Dino Valley. The fun prehistoric zone offers three rides, an interactive LEGO build-and play-area and costume characters, as well as 30 LEGO models.

As spring heats up, the LEGOLAND Water Park reopens in late March, offering an array of seven slides plus sandy beaches and the Build-A-Raft River. In all, the water park offers more than 10 million gallons of fun.

Petco Park — home of the pennant-contending Padres and their contingent of phenomenal young ballplayers — brings big-league excitement right to San Diego's East Village, with views of the skyline and sparkling waterfront. And not only does the park offer some of the best dining options of any baseball stadium in the country, but it's barely a bunt's length away from the restaurants and nightlife of Downtown's historic Gaslamp Quarter.

The USS Midway Museum has partnered with the Port of San Diego on this exciting addition to San Diego’s Embarcadero: a 10-acre park paying tribute to America’s military veterans. It'll be the largest veterans park on the West Coast and will help tell the stories of everyday heroes who served our country. It will also be conveniently close to the Midway, a one-of-a-kind floating museum, which offers amazing views of San Diego as well as flight simulators, climb-in aircraft and more.

Make your way to the sparkling Embarcadero under San Diego’s balmy springtime skies and explore a fascinating fleet of vintage vessels at the San Diego Maritime Museum. Take a tour of the Star of India — the world's oldest active sailing ship, and a proud San Diego landmark — and then check out the stately, Victorian Era steam ferry Berkeley, the USS Dolphin submarine, a replica of the 16th-century galleon replica San Salvador and more. April 27 will also see a classical-music performance onboard the Berkeley as part of the museum’s concert series.

With fascinating, in-depth explorations of three diverse habitats — the California Coast, the Pacific Northwest and the Tropical Pacific — Birch Aquarium's new Living Seas exhibit will immerse visitors in the wonders of the ocean world. Balboa Park’s beautiful gardens come alive in springtime, from the fragrant blooms of the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden to the formal, ornate delights of the Alcazar Garden. And the Japanese Friendship Garden – symbol of city sisterhood between San Diego and Yokohama, Japan — is renowned for its spring Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs March 13-16, 2025.
Botanical Building is Back

One of the most striking architectural sights in Balboa Park, the domed, wood-lath Botanical Building — built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition — is open again after a complete rebuild. Visitors can once again enjoy the structure’s hundreds of rare, tropical and indigenous plants, or soak in the views of the serene Lily Pond that stretches out in front of the building.
