About 30 miles east of San Diego, Alpine is a community nestled in the foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains. It’s often viewed as a gateway to San Diego’s mountains and high desert communities. With a range of terrain, from forested hillsides to valleys and canyons, it’s a mostly rural community with a small-town vibe and plenty of hidden gems to explore.

Experience free flying trained birds of prey and learn about the world's oldest hunting tradition. Interactive classes are held in the picturesque settings of the San Diego mountains in Alpine, 30 miles from downtown San Diego, on a private 40-acre ranch in the Cleveland National Forest. 

Visitors can act as a hands-on participants or observers to learn about raptor biology, conservation abd the art of falconry. 

Enjoy a Basic Falconry Lesson, Hawk Walks for more adventure and glove time with the bird, or an Owl and Falcon Encounter to learn about diurnal and nocturnal raptors. 

Private Raptor Experiences are the ultimate in-depth class to fly a hawk, falcon and owl. They host individuals and groups, as well as corporate team building and off-site events.

San Diego Animal Sanctuary and Farm

San Diego Animal Sanctuary and Farm

This magical and serene farm, with its 20 acres of terrain in Alpine just outside San Diego is a safe haven for nearly 200 domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world. The farm is specifically designed to help children and adults develop a sense of wonder for nature and its inhabitants through unstructured exploration and learning. Fun and educational “interactive encounters” are available for everyone to learn and foster an appreciation for animals, nature, sustainable farming and the ecosystem.

Alpine Fourth of July Parade and Carnival

Alpine's old-fashioned parade features a wide variety of patriotic entries from antique cars and motorcycles to decorated kids contests and more. It all begins with the flyover of refurbished biplanes from World War II. The parade terminates at the Alpine Community Center Park, home of the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor, with live music, a Deep Pit BBQ, a carnival with lots of activities for children and much more.

Alpine Beer Company

Alpine Beer Company has become one of San Diego’s most notable craft breweries since its first batch in 1999. Known as the “Home of Pure Hoppiness,” the brewery now has IPA fans from around the world.
