Rooms
90 guest rooms and suites, ranging from rooms that open toward the water to one-, two- and three-bedroom beachfront suites, garden-side cottages and ADA-accessible rooms. Seventy-two units have full kitchens, which is why the Club works for week-long family stays and multigenerational reunions as well as weekends.
The beach
Beach services staff work stations along the sand, setting up lounge chairs, umbrellas and side tables for guests. Beach barbecue setups can be reserved with a table, chairs and a grill, and community grills are available through the summer season. Personal grills, fire pits and outside firewood are not permitted.
Tennis, pickleball and golf
13 tennis courts with no court fees, reserved through the CourtReserve app, plus five pickleball courts. Private lessons, group lessons, clinics and camps are available through the tennis department. The par-3 pitch-and-putt golf course has complimentary clubs available near the pro shop. Bocce courts round out the grounds.
Pool, fitness and family
A heated outdoor pool, with adults-only lap swim periods each morning and midday, plus a separate wading pool for children under eight. There's a fitness center with classes, massage services, and a children's playground open daily until sunset.
Dining
The Marine Room has been on the sand since 1941 and is famous for High Tide Dinners, when waves break against its floor-to-ceiling windows; it's open to the public, not just hotel guests. Club Dining serves breakfast through dinner and has a wood-fired outdoor pizza oven. The Walnut Lounge is open to guests 21 and over. The Club Market handles morning coffee and grab-and-go.
Good to know
Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. and check-out at 11:00 a.m., with late check-out subject to availability. A nightly resort fee covers on-site parking, Wi-Fi throughout, full beach service, tennis and pickleball court use, the heated pool, bicycle rentals, the fitness center, patio coffee service and in-room bottled water. The property is entirely smoke-free, including guest rooms, grounds and the beach. Pets are welcome in the Beach Club Cottages. Registered guests may host up to four day visitors, for a per-visitor fee that varies by season. Drone use is not permitted anywhere on Club property.
Getting here and getting around
The Club is at 2000 Spindrift Drive in La Jolla Shores. Surf, kayak and paddleboard rentals and lessons are a short walk away on Avenida de la Playa, and the La Jolla Underwater Canyon just offshore makes this one of the best shore-diving sites on the West Coast. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is about five minutes by car, the Village of La Jolla about ten, and UC San Diego roughly the same. Downtown San Diego and San Diego International Airport are 12 miles south, about 20 to 25 minutes. SeaWorld is around 20 minutes, the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park around 25, and LEGOLAND about 35 minutes north.
