Indoors, a conference room with floor-to-ceiling windows and natural light suits board meetings; a 1,320-square-foot ocean-view room divides into two smaller spaces and opens onto an adjacent tri-level terrace with views toward La Jolla Cove and Scripps Pier; and a more formal room with vaulted ceilings, walls of windows and an adjoining open-air patio handles larger seated events. Outdoors, a 3,500-square-foot garden courtyard of lush foliage, Spanish tile and fountains hosts ceremonies and cocktail hours for up to 150 guests; a lawn between the restaurant and the sand works for oceanfront receptions and sunset events; and an ocean-view patio accommodates gatherings of up to 180.

Meeting services
Planning services, audiovisual equipment, on-site technical support, video conferencing, unlimited Wi-Fi, event parking, flexible seating and full on-site catering by The Shores Restaurant. Menus are built around coastal California cooking and scale from breakfast buffets and boxed working lunches to beachfront receptions and plated dinners. An event manager and IT support are on hand during the program for last-minute changes.

What attendees get outside the meeting
Ocean-view patios adjoin the meeting space, so coffee breaks happen outside rather than in a windowless pre-function corridor. Group surf lessons and kayak tours to the La Jolla sea caves launch from the beach in front of the hotel. Attendees have the heated pool and hot tub, the fitness center, complimentary beach chair and umbrella service, courtyard games and fire pits, and access to tennis and pickleball clinics next door at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. The complimentary five-mile shuttle handles offsite dinners without a coach contract.

Location for planners
15 miles from the San Diego Convention Center and 12 miles from San Diego International Airport, about 20 to 25 minutes. UC San Diego and Scripps Institution of Oceanography are two miles away and Westfield UTC is three, making the hotel a practical base for academic conferences, scientific working groups and life sciences programs. It's a frequent venue for corporate retreats, board meetings, family reunions, rehearsal dinners and beach weddings.
