It Must Be California: Convertible Buses

San Diego, CA
City Sightseeing, a leading open top double decker bus sightseeing company with over 80 locations worldwide, has launched hop-on hop-off service in two California cities, with expansion plans for several more destinations across the country.
San Diego is the newest member of the City Sightseeing family, having launched in April. Passengers ride a converted English double decker bus through Old Town, Balboa Park, the Gas Lamp District, Seaport Village, and the San Diego Zoo, with optional add on tickets for the Coronado Island Ferry. Manuel Lozano, founder of City Sightseeing San Diego, reports that the colorful buses are attracting a lot of attention among San Diego's visitors. “San Diego's sunny, mild climate makes open top double decker buses the most appealing way to see the city.”
The tour currently operates four times daily, with frequencies due to increase as summer crowds swell.
The San Francisco operation launched last November, and features three loops: Downtown, Golden Gate, and a Night Loop. Tickets run from $20 to $49 and are valid for 24 hours. Routes cover Chinatown, North Beach, Presidio, Union Square, and Golden Gate Park.
“This is an idea whose time has finally come to San Francisco” says Christian Watts, founder of City Sightseeing SF. “Double decker tours operate in most major cities around the world, but are limited to a few markets in the US. The tours have been very popular, particularly among international visitors,” Watts adds “Europeans especially are used to hopping a tour like this to visit all the top spots in town without worrying about parking or traffic.”
