African Chief

As fanciful tunes fill the air, Chief Kahle welcomes guests into Safari Base Camp. He will also roam throughout Base Camp, encouraging all his new friends to celebrate.
Safari Hat Giveaway for Kids

Our generous chief will give each child a safari hat (while supplies last), signifying their readiness for all the adventures that await!
Drumming & Hula Hoops
When: 12:30 – 5:30 pm
Where: Safari Base Camp
Visit the African Activities Plaza in Safari Base Camp, and try your hand at drumming.
African Crafts: Beading When: 11:30 am – 4:30 pm
Where: Safari Base Camp
Visit the African Activities Plaza in Safari Base Camp, and create a beaded necklace or bracelet.
Happy Hour Deals & Sizzling Grill

Robert the Zebra
Where: Discovery Station
If you've ever wanted to have a conversation with a zebra—or even if it never crossed your mind—this is your chance! Robert the Zebra lives in digital, animated form on a large screen where he can see the people who have come to visit. He asks questions, cracks jokes, talks about zebra life, and is very curious about humans. Chat with our interactive digital zebra in the Park's Discovery Station Amphitheater.
Interactive African Storyteller
When: 11:30 am; 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 pm
Where: Discovery Station
At Discovery Station or the Village Stage, Abantwana the Storyteller is waiting to share tales and music from Africa—and is eager for all to join in!
Make Your Own Safari Vest
When: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm
Where: Discovery Station
Visit the African Activities Plaza in Safari Base Camp, and make a safari vest.
