Whale Watching:
Every December 26th through April, San Diego plays host for over 25,000 Grey Whales on their incredible 10,000 mile journey to the South to the beautiful Baja California Sur, San Ignacio Lagoon. Every year like clockwork, these spectacular mammals arrive to the warm waters of Southern Baja where the females give birth to their young and then return to the Arctic waters of the North.
We are only 20 minutes to the Pacific Ocean and this trip is 3 and 1/2 hours.
This is a great trip for all ages!

Sail San Diego has been sailing on the beautiful waters surrounding San Diego for 23 years.
Hosting thousands of satisfied clients, Sail San Diego prides itself in customer service, hosting smaller groups to large corporate events and making each event a first-class experience.
Sail San Diego has recently added two new boats to our family of boats!! We are so excited to bring another 40’ Catalina into our company because it boosts so much room in and around the cockpit that our guests have so much room to stretch out and enjoy the trip that much more. The boat is also double-helmed (two wheels) in the cockpit so guests have the opportunity to get behind the wheel while our experienced Captain is still on the other. Our guests are not required to help sail. We want you to have the option of either sitting back relaxing or taking time at the wheel. This is a great feature for kids to learn more about boating and they enjoy it so much! And guests who are interested in learning more about this time honored sport.
We now have three-40 Sloops Built by Catalina Yachts sitting side by side at our marina. This will make last minute reservations easier and increase our capacity.
Our boats are gorgeous and beautifully appointed and maintained.
All trips include complimentary beverages including chilled beer, wine and a big selection of non-alcoholic beverages and snacks to enjoy while under way!
To help keep our guests as comfortable as possible, we also provide all of the extra jackets, hats, windbreakers, blankets, sunscreens, towels, binoculars and much more. Our guests are now welcome to bring their iPods to hook into our new stereo system for personal listening pleasure!
Whether it is a whale watching trip, family gathering, special event, corporate event, celebration or romantic cruise, Sail San Diego will meet all your boating needs!
Sustainability Efforts:
This year in 2011, are biggest concern and our goal was to stop using bottled waters on the boats for our guests but still being able to offer our guests the enjoyment of great, healthy water without the waste of a bottle to recycle!
We have always recycled with vigor and then donated the proceeds to the NRDC the Natural Resources Defense Council a Non-Profit Organization who fights and brings attention to the peril of our environment.
Well we did come up with a great filtered-water system on our boats and we are now providing glasses that we can wash up for our guests to enjoy good, healthy water!
We are still recycling our aluminum cans and donating the funds raised to NRDC and now we can rest assured that we are not adding to further waste by missing the few bottles that make it into the garbage, or the bottles that our guests leave with to finish on the way home.
We are continually looking for new ways to continue to be as light-impact on the fragile eco-system we call home!
What Makes Us Eco-Friendly? In the winter of 07, Sail San Diego was one of the first sailing companies to change our way of doing business and focusing on a being a” green" company. Something we pride ourselves in very much!
All exterior and interior cleaning products are:
- Bio-degradable
- Non-Toxic
- Animal Testing Free
All Paper Products are Bio-degradable and recycled products.
Our Intense Recycling Program donates the proceeds to the National Resource Defense Council, an organization dedicated to preserving our natural resources.
We are under sail from the time we leave the docks- the most eco-friendly way to spend time on the water!
