San Diego REPertory Theatre (The REP) is located in the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. Founded in 1976 by current artistic director Sam Woodhouse and D.W. Roberts, The REP has always had a special place in San Diego's cultural landscape. The REP produces contemporary plays, re-imagined classics and world premieres not likely to be seen in other local theatres.

Through many discussions exist about what makes a play "a REP play," the company's mission statement is simple: San Diego REPertory Theatre produces intimate, exotic, provocative theatre that celebrates the multiple voices of San Diego. The REP attracts an audience that enjoys a broad spectrum of theatre and has a passion for looking at the world from different perspectives, and for being introduced to characters and stories that let them experience the world through another's eyes.   • Four hours of free parking is available in the Horton Plaza Garage.

REP Season Details:

  • The REP's season runs from July-May and includes seven plays and two festivals.
  • Kuumba Fest: a celebration of African American history and culture.
  • The Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival: a celebration of Jewish art.
