Water Transportation in San Diego

Take the Coronado Ferry or Water Taxi

San Diego’s location on the Pacific Ocean allows for fun ways to explore the region by water. A number of ferries and water taxis twill take you from San Diego Harbor to surrounding areas like Coronado, Harbor Island and Shelter Island.

Coronado Ferry

This passenger ferry, owned and operated by Flagship Cruises, runs regularly across San Diego Bay, between the Broadway Pier and the Convention Center in downtown San Diego and the Coronado Ferry Landing. A 15-minute ride  one way, the ferry provides gorgeous views of the downtown skyline and the Coronado Bridge.

Water Taxi

San Diego Water Taxi offers on-call transportation services in the San Diego Bay Friday through Sunday. Service runs between Downtown and Coronado, where you can relax and enjoy the scenery and beautiful downtown skylines from the water. Hop serenely from place to place conveniently from your hotel to nearby shopping centers and restaurants.

Get Back in Nature in San Diego’s South Bay

San Diego is one of the most biologically rich counties in the United States, sheltering more endangered plants and animals than any other county in the nation. In fact, three national wildlife preserves border the southern end of San Diego Bay and another refuge sits just a few miles off the coast, making it of the best places in the entire state to bird watch or simply get back to nature.
