During November, take the time to honor and thank those who have served in the United States armed forces at one of the many Veterans Day events, parades, memorials and museums throughout San Diego.
The U.S. military has played a key role in San Diego's civic life for more than a century. And not only do the armed services continue to be a major presence here — with five major Navy and Marine Corps bases and more than 115,000 active-duty service members in the region — but it's estimated that San Diego is home to more than 230,000 veterans.
So it's only fitting that when Veterans Day arrives each November, the San Diego region hosts numerous events saluting those who have served. From ceremonies at the USS Midway Museum and the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial to a wide range of parades and special museum exhibits, San Diego embraces the honor of commemorating veterans and their families.
