Surfers, scientists and survivors come together to support the fight against cancer at the annual Luau and Legends of Surfing Invitational at the beach near Scripps Pier in La Jolla.
Just 28 years of surfing that has helped redefine the way we diagnose and treat cancer – 28 years that have brought in nearly $10 million for research and helped thousands of patients through clinical trials, new treatments and delivering discoveries.
As COVID-19 impacts all aspects of life here in San Diego, we have had to make many difficult choices. UC San Diego’s in-person events have been altered for safety for the foreseeable future and this includes Luau 28. In light of these changes, we made the decision for 28th Annual Luau & Legends of Surfing Invitational to consist of a very limited in-person sponsor reception and an in-person surf contest on the beach this year.
To all of our current 2021 sponsors, thank you. We are so thrilled to welcome you back to the beach this year. We are Surfing for a Cure to raise philanthropic support for research, teaching and clinical care in San Diego. All event proceeds will benefit Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health. Check back for more details as we get closer the the event.
