THANKSGIVING DAY DINING
This Thanksgiving, gather with loved ones and experience a memorable holiday feast at the Catamaran Resort! Hosted in our scenic bayfront ballrooms, our chefs have curated a Thanksgiving buffet...
The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa is a paradisiacal destination on the shores of Mission Bay and mere steps from San Diego’s famous Pacific Beach. With lush tropical gardens and a private beach, this Polynesian-themed hotel is an ideal destination for special occasions and meetings no matter the time of year.
Established in 1958, the Catamaran is a paradise featuring more than 1,000 varieties of exotic plants and animals from around the world. Palm trees, bamboo, waterfalls and koi ponds appeal to the senses, while playful parrots delight and intrigue guests. Reminiscent of traditional Colonial Hawaiian architectural styles, the Catamaran boasts accents such as totem poles handcrafted in Bali and a beautiful front desk constructed of Black Koa wood imported from Tahiti.
The Catamaran offers 14 function spaces with a variety of seating configurations ‒ including a private beach on Mission Bay ‒ for groups of all sizes. The Kon Tiki Meeting room is the Catamaran’s signature space, featuring an A-frame structure, a 25-foot ceiling and the ability to host up to 425 guests. Additional meeting spaces feature up to 180-degree views of Mission Bay and often include natural lighting and private balconies or patios, with maximum capacities ranging between 50 and 350 attendees.
In addition to indoor/outdoor conference spaces, the Catamaran offers a unique experience via its two 19th-century-style sternwheelers, the William D. Evans and the Bahia Belle, which tour Mission Bay and can host up to 450 and 160 guests, respectively.
The Catamaran’s friendly and professional staff is able to assist groups in the arrangement of team building activities, beach parties and picnics, meeting packages and more. From event preparation and execution to food and beverage menus and technical aid, event planning with the Catamaran is a breeze.
The property features 310 guest rooms, studios and suites, each with a private balcony or patio that opens to stunning views of Mission Bay, the Pacific Beach neighborhood and coastline, or the hotel’s lush tropical gardens. All guests are provided a full range of amenities including complimentary high speed Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service.
On-site dining options include Oceana Coastal Kitchen, featuring chef-driven surf and turf dishes, and Moray’s, a casual bar where guests can sip on a signature Moray’s Mai Tai, savor a local craft beer and enjoy daily happy hour specials in view of the bay. Both venues feature a blend of indoor and patio spaces, the latter lined with tiki torches, fire pit tables and lush palms. Guests may also choose to enjoy a quick bite at Lava Java, the grab-and-go café with specialty coffees, teas, made-to-order smoothies, as well as sandwiches, salads and pastries.
Additional on-site amenities include a sparkling outdoor pool, beach cabanas, an open-air fitness center, seasonal outdoor yoga classes and the Catamaran Spa. This beachfront spa ‒ the only one of its kind in San Diego ‒ is a highlight for many visitors and offers a South Pacific-inspired menu of treatments delivered via all-natural marine and botanical elements.
Adjacent to the resort, guests can rent paddleboards, sailboats, kayaks, bicycles and more. The Catamaran is within walking distance to Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, where guests can stroll the boardwalk or the iconic Crystal Pier, and is within 10 miles of major San Diego attractions including SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park & Downtown’s Gaslamp District & the San Diego International Airport.
