A Splendid Decennium: Victorian to Vanguard

Exhibition at the Davis-Horton House

he Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House is thrilled to announce the new exhibit, “A Splendid Decennium: Victorian to Vanguard.” The exhibit will infuse the House with works from internationally-acclaimed fiber artist Marty Ornish, exploring a decade of political, environmental, and feminist perspectives through textile art.

“A Splendid Decennium: Victorian to Vanguard” is a retrospective exhibit in two parts, uniting two historical jewels, the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House and the Villa Montezuma Museum. The exhibition will span both properties and can be viewed separately, but guests are encouraged to visit both for a comprehensive experience of MartyO’s work.

Admission to Gaslamp Museum portion included in all Museum and Walking Tours. Buy tickets today!

Separate admission to the Villa Montezuma Museum required.

Move with Us

Jan 24 - ongoing

Join us for weekly candlelight yoga in the Museum, a uniquely grounding experience in the center of our historic rotunda. We’ll move and breathe together with our instructor, Lunita Velásquez, as the sun sets and rely on natural light and candles to set a calming mood.

All are welcome, regardless of physical ability or yoga experience. People under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The class will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. Please plan ample time for parking within Balboa Park. Museum doors will open at 5:15 p.m. for check-in and to set up your mat. To maintain a quiet restorative experience for all, the Museum doors will be closed and locked at 5:40 p.m.

Registration is available online and walk-ins are welcome. Learn more and register ahead of time at museumofus.org/blog/move-with-us.

Ocean Connectors Wildlife Kayaking Eco Tour

May 4, 2024

Be an Ocean Connector and join us on a Wildlife Kayaking adventure!

Did you know that San Diego Bay provides foraging habitat for the Eastern Pacific green sea turtle? This small feeding population consists of about 60 individuals, and we will be on the lookout for these beautiful creatures on our Wildlife Kayaking Eco Tour while paddling through the Chula Vista Wildlife Reserve. Our naturalist guide will point out local wildlife and teach you about the turtles in our bay, as well as local ecology and conservation efforts.

Best of all, proceeds of your Eco Tour ticket go to our nonprofit environmental education programs. Which directly supports youth in underserved Pacific coastal communities.
