Human Rights Watch Film Festival returns to MOPA on January 31 - February 2. Now in its ninth year, the festival presents a unique program encompassing five films and discussions that address a wide range of human rights issues from around the world. Filmmakers and Human Rights Watch experts will be present to discuss many of the issues raised by films and their impact around the world. Passes and single-screening tickets are available now.

Del Mar Racing Season

San Diego horse racing takes place where the "turf meets the surf" at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season, mid-July - early-September. Be part of the magic and nostalgia of this long-time horse race tradition dating back to 1937 when Bing Crosby greeted the first guests, and Seabiscuit won by a nose in the infamous race in 1938. This season features the nation's top race horses, trainers and jockeys, and plenty of fun in the sun.

The races run five days weekly, except Monday and Tuesday.

Horse racing at Del Mar happens Wednesday through Sunday, with post time for the first race on most days at 2:00 PM. On Fridays first post is 4:00 PM.

Open Cockpit Days at the Flying Leatherneck Museum

Aug 3 - Aug 4, 2019

Come sit in a cockpit and experience Marine aviation from a pilot's perspective at the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum! Cockpits of some of the aircraft on display will be open and pilots will be available to answer questions every other weekend during the summer. 2019 Open Cockpit Days are May 25-26; June 8-9, 22-23; July 6-7, 20-21; Aug 3-4, 17-18, 31; & Sept 1.

Kids and adults can strap into an ejection seat, try on a helmet and complete an "I Spy" activity.  See 31 historical aircraft up close at this indoor/outdoor attraction as well as hundreds of artifacts from the earliest days of aviation to present day.

The Museum is open Tuesdays-Sundays from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm (except federal holidays). Check the website for more information at flyingleathernecks.org.  858-693-1723. Admission and Parking are Free.
