San Diego Repertory Theatre

San Diego REPertory Theatre (The REP) is located in the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. Founded in 1976 by current artistic director Sam Woodhouse and D.W. Roberts, The REP has always had a special place in San Diego's cultural landscape. The REP produces contemporary plays, re-imagined classics and world premieres not likely to be seen in other local theatres.

The Dybbuk for Hannah and Sam's Wedding

This one-man adaptation by San Diego Repertory Theatre's Associate Artistic Director Todd Salovey, is one of the most famous Jewish plays ever written ("The Dybbuk" by S. Ansky) and is performed by internationally renowned actor and Cirque du Soleil clown Ron Campbell ("R. Buckminster Fuller: The History (and Mystery) of the Universe"). Klezmer Legend and music ethnographer Yale Strom is composing and performing live original music for the show!

San Diego Repertory Theatre Presents the World Premiere of Our Great Tchaikovsky. a new play with music featuring the compositions of Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with a book and performance by Hershey Felder. Directed by longtime collaborator Trevor Hay ("Hershey Felder as Irving Berling"), and produced by long-time collaborators Samantha F. Voxakis, Karen Racanelli and Erik Carstensen, Felder's newest work takes on Russia’s most celebrated, and perhaps most mysterious, composer.

Things to Know:

  • San Diego REP at Horton Plaza's Lyceum Theatres in the Gaslamp District.
  • Four hours of free parking is available in the Horton Plaza Garage.
  • More than 60 unique restaurant and bars are located within walking distance.
  • The two theatre lobbies at the REP house art exhibits all year long.

REP Season Details:

  • The REP's season runs from July-May and includes seven plays and two festivals.
  • Kuumba Fest: a celebration of African American history and culture.
  • The Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival: a celebration of Jewish art.
