Family owned and operated by the Rizzo family for three generations, the Bernardo Winery offers wines grown, pressed and bottled in San Diego since 1889. Bernardo Specializes in regional varietals such as Petite Syrah, Syrah, Sangiovese, Albarino, Viognier and Zinfandel.
COVID-19 update - We're happy to say, The Bernardo Winery is open Wednesday- Sunday from 11-6 for wine and food onsite as well as shopping in our village shops. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Reservations are required for wine and food, on our website. Guests can also enjoy the rustic charm of the winery grounds, gardens and village shops. No reservations are needed for shopping or visiting Manzanita coffee house.
Nestled in the Suburban North County San Diego foothills, the Bernardo Winery is a quick drive from Downtown San Diego and a nice day spent visiting a working winery that has much more besides just a tasting room. Besides daily wine tasting, the winery is home to a variety of unique shops and galleries, plenty of examples of old California winemaking equipment, gardens and grounds for you to wander and enjoy while you sip your wine or coffee. Bernardo Winery has something for all of our visitors from around the globe, whether you come to wine taste, shop, enjoy a coffee, or attend an event. Families are welcome!
The Kitchen restaurant, located in the center of the winery village, is a testament to the rich Italian heritage at Bernardo Winery. The Kitchen serves traditional house-made pastas, brick-oven pizzas on the weekends, fresh sauces and an assorted menu for all palates. Gluten Free and vegetarian options available also. The Kitchen has indoor and oudoor seating, with outdoor patios reminiscent of a garden patio, lush with foliage, in the mediterranean.
The Winery has several venues for special occasions and events of every size, ranging from the intimate space of the old barrel room to our larger indoor/outdoor venues. From private wine tastings, corporate team-building, meetings, family events, anniversaries to your wedding day, our event team can help you create the perfect event, day or night at the winery.
