Man, there is no better place to play out in the sun in San Diego than spending a day on one of its sandy shores. La Jolla Shores is my family’s go-to for all things. Whether it’s spending a day in the sand, teaching my son Taj to surf, or kayaking out to the Sea Caves, you can never go wrong with a La Jolla day. Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are a couple of other great beaches that we love to visit on a sunny San Diego day! One of my favorite "date days" to share my with wife, Sara, is an afternoon visit filled with art and culture at Balboa Park, followed by dinner (and per Sara’s request, every single time) shopping in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. Or another great spot, if you’re looking to get out of the city and into nature for some breathtaking views, is a coastal hike at Torrey Pines State Reserve!
For all of my surfin' Soulrockers, there are not many places I love riding the waves more than the shores of San Diego. My go-to spot has to be Swami's, if I'm in the mood for some casual Zen-like waves, or Windansea during the winter for the best swells! If you're feeling up for a challenge, make sure to check out Trestles — although it's NOT recommended for my little groms. But for all of you mommy and daddy surfin' Soulrockers, La Jolla Shores is the spot to ease your kiddos into the water! And there's no better way to end the day than a sunset surf sesh at Tourmaline Surf Park.
There's nothing better than sharing my music LIVE IN CONCERT with the Soulrocker community. And in my opinion, there's no better place in San Diego for my vibes than Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay! Some of my favorite memories have been partying it up with Soulrockers at Humphrey's on Shelter Island! But that's not to say there aren't many other legendary spots to catch tunes in San Diego. I love stumbling upon the next up-and-coming artist playing at Soda Bar in North Park, all the way up to seeing some of my favorite stars play The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. And it would be wrong not to mention the iconic and historic vibes of the Balboa Theatre! I mentioned before that I love the outdoor vibes of Humphrey's, but you also can't go wrong catching a show at The Casbah in Little Italy. No matter where you're at, you can't go wrong vibing out to tunes at any of these classic SD spots!
As all of my Soulrockers know, my family is my whole world. Sharing adventures with my wife, Sara, and our baby boy, Taj, are my favorite memories that sustain me through life's ups and downs. Whenever we are around, Sara and I love taking Baby Taj exploring around San Diego. One of our favorite spots to let Taj use his imagination is LEGOLAND! We also always get a kick out of how excited he gets when he experiences the amazing creatures found at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and the Birch Aquarium too. I hate saying this, because of my loyalty to my hometown Giants, but taking Taj and Sara out to a Padres game at Gallagher Square at Petco Park is always a ton of fun too! OH, and like I said earlier...you can never go wrong with a beach day or teaching the family to surf at La Jolla Shores!
