A wildly popular free concert series, the ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station hosts four Liberty Station Concerts, presented outdoors on the grassy North Promenade on Sunday evenings and featuring a collection of popular San Diego musicians and acts.
Audiences are invited to bring a blanket, a picnic and a love of live music. Produced in partnership with Damian DeRobbio, of Beer, Food & Music, the venue is set up to allow lots of room to dance and get up close to the acts.
“We wanted to include local bands with roots in San Diego and that have helped build a vibrant culture here,” explained Andrew Waltz, ARTS DISTRICT Program Manager. “The concert series highlights regionally known groups that are setting the bar for San Diego’s music scene.”
The 2018 Liberty Station Concert series presents many notable San Diego Music Awards winners and nominees, including Rebecca Jade, winner for Best Jazz Album with Peter Sprague; Birdy Bardot, winner for Best Pop; Earl Thomas, a former four-time SDMA winner; and Casey Hensley Band, nominated for Artist of the Year. Each will take the stage for an innovative performance on their own or in creative ensembles.
Concert-goers are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the art galleries, studios and museums of the exciting ARTS DISTRICT. Many ARTS DISTRICT Resident Organizations will present pop-up activities and programs prior to all concerts.
